New Years Resolutions & Vision Boarding

If you’ve ever felt stuck in life or unsure of how to move closer to your goals, vision boarding might just be the answer you didn’t know you were looking for. It’s more than cutting out pretty pictures and gluing them to a board—it’s a powerful practice rooted in visualization, intention setting, and the science of manifestation.

Let me share my story and how vision boarding has transformed my life, along with tips on how you can create your own life-changing board.

Why Vision Boarding Works

Vision boarding isn’t just about dreaming big; it’s about creating a tangible reminder of what you’re working towards. Research shows that visualization can improve performance and focus. By consistently picturing your goals as already achieved, you prime your mind to take the actions necessary to make them a reality. Neuroscience backs this up: visualization activates the same neural networks as actually experiencing the event, which can boost confidence and motivation.

And what better time to start than now? As we approach a new year, it’s the perfect opportunity to align your vision board with your New Year’s resolutions. January symbolizes fresh starts and renewed energy, making it an ideal moment to kickstart your journey toward a successful 2025. Your vision board can serve as a visual map to guide you through the year, keeping you motivated and on track with your goals.

A vision board combines this visualization with daily affirmation, reinforcing the belief that your goals are attainable and within reach.

My Vision Boarding Journey

I’ve been vision boarding since 2015, and I can honestly say that it has changed my life. My first ever board included images of a white SUV, my dream body, and a move to sunny Miami. To my astonishment, every one of those goals came true. Since then, I’ve been hooked. Over the years, I’ve added and achieved so many dreams: Prada boots, traveling to Paris and Spain, yoga teacher training in Bali, a relationship, starting my own business, and most recently my dream house.

When I first created my board in 2015, I was an interior designer working a corporate design job and dreaming of more freedom, more money, and more culture. I needed dream board that was something physical, beautiful, and inspiring to look at—something that blended seamlessly into my home. So, I made a vision board using a sleek metal grid - I wanted it to look modern and trendy, not too girly, nor tacky. I spray painted an old metal frame with matte black spray paint, and used binder clips to post my images. It was as if my Pinterest board came to life.

Friends who visited would admire it, and would ask about what it was, and it would inspire them to start their own. When I quit my job in 2022 to travel, it became a non-negotiable part of my journey. I packed my grid and images in my luggage and set it up everywhere I stayed, from Airbnbs to co-living spaces around the world. It became a piece of me, a daily ritual, and a constant reminder of my goals. And people were mind blown that I would travel so far with a metal grid.

Today, I have a growing pile of images representing dreams I’ve achieved: traveling to Edinburgh and Dubrovnik, living in Switzerland, starting my business, and even something as personal as brow goals - microbladed eyebrows. Seeing that pile grow feels like a big achievement and is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life.

I believe in this so much that I have created a kit to share with you all - a way to help make turn your dreams into reality, in an aesthetic way. You can see the kit here.

How I Create My Vision Board

Making a vision board is deeply personal, but here’s my tried-and-true process:

  1. Find Your Images: Pinterest is the go to for this. I create a private board where I save images that resonate with my goals. From dream vacations to fitness inspirations, I’m specific about what I want.

  2. Print & Arrange: Once I’ve curated the perfect collection, I print the images and clip them onto my metal grid. This way, the board remains versatile and visually aesthetic. I place the board in a place I can easily see, and it blends into my decor.

  3. Daily Visualization: I make a habit of looking at my vision board every day. I don’t just glance at it; I immerse myself in the feeling of already achieving those goals. I imagine what it feels like to be driving that new car, sitting in that Eames lounge chair, or being on the beach and feeling the warm sand in the Maldives.

  4. Affirmations: I pair my visualization practice with positive affirmations. This combination is incredibly powerful for keeping me motivated and aligned with my goals.

  5. Evolve Your Board: A vision board is never static. As I achieve goals, I replace those images with new ones. It’s a living, breathing reflection of my aspirations.

What’s Next on My Vision Board

Your vision board will be different to mine, as we all have our own unique goals and aspiration. I have had a lot time of the holidays to think about what I want for the next year, and will be taking the time this next week to make some updates to my  trusty gold board that has traveled the world with me. For the upcoming year, my vision board includes:

  • Growth in my businesses

  • A black Eames Lounge chair

  • Building stronger friendships and making new ones

  • Reaching my fitness goals (and getting really good at Padel)

  • Creating a viral business TikTok or Instagram Reel

  • A trip to China and Japan

I’m excited to see how these goals unfold and add more images to my “completed” pile.

I have even inspired my parter to make his own vision board. He chose the black board and has images of his masculine goals - so cute to see, and I know he will achieve those goals.

Vision boarding has transformed my life, and I truly believe it can do the same for you. It’s not just about achieving goals; it’s about living with intention, clarity, and purpose. So grab a grid or make a DIY one at home, start collecting those images, and watch the magic happen.

Here’s to making your dreams a reality!
